Laurent and DianeDiane,

Wayne Wagner with Aoudad

I want to thank you again for everything you did to make Wayne Wagners last hunting trip a special memory for both of us.  Wayne lost his battle with his illness after 10 years of undescribable pain on January 17, 2011. He was a special friend to me and we enjoyed lots of good times together chasing elk in Wyoming, hunting carribou in Alaska and many more outdoor adventures.  Our trip to Indianhead had lots of memories, not all good. Your entire staff went way beyond just hosting a hunt.  From my initial call to get the biggest Aoudad that ever lived to visiting Wayne in the Del Rio hospital, your effort was remarkable, Wayne never recovered from that trip but he had a great time.  The trophy Aoudad was hanging on his wall within 2 months of his last shot.

Thank you for your effort and friendship, Jim Gresham

Dear Laurent & Diane

I want to say thank you for giving me and my grandpa the oppurtunity to go on the Hunt of a Lifetime.  Thanks to you guys, you brought me and my grandpa together again because we were not getting to spend much time together. The hunt and the whole experience was amazing. Hunting for the ram was my favorite but I truly loved it all.

I want to thank Jaimeson for being able to put me in front of it so that I could make my shot.  I am glad that I had the oppurtunity to meet a lot of new people that enjoyed hunting as much as me. The food was also amazing. Had it not been for this trip, I would probably never had the oppurtunity to experience some of the unique food that we were able to eat at the ranch.

Thank you for everything that you guys did to make this trip and experience possible.  I would do it again in a heart beat and hopefully one day I will be able to.  I can't wait to get my ram.

Sincerely,

Dominik Stamey

American Buffalo Hunt - Indianhead Ranch - Free Range

A special kind of hunt rekindles childhood dreams and the spirit of America S Westward expansion.

In 1957, as a young man I saw my first bison behind a fence along the road near Vinita, Okla. The image of that large,
tawny taw·ny, woolly-headed monster with its lumbering walk and shiny black eyes has always been with me. In the early '80s, a trip to Yellowstone renewed my interest in the large animals as I saw their large herds milling and wallowing in the deep, green, wet grass.

As I read more and more about their past glory when they roamed by the millions across the American West from Texas to Canada, and of their subsequent demise at the hands of buffalo runners, Native Americans and acts of nature, I dreamed about hunting buffalo -- not with modern guns but with the same firearms, ammo and blackpowder used by those hunters of the last century. ....

We can wholeheartedly recommend ranch hunting in Texas. It may not be pure, in the historic sense, but it is there and it is very satisfactory. It is as challenging as you wish to make it, and it puts good meat in the freezer. The blackbuck and axis deer and mouflon are all charming trophies. We have sampled the bison meat, and find it to be particularly toothsome.

There are several well-run hunting ranches in Texas, and having taken our bison on one, we can recommend it highly. This one is the Indianhead Ranch, Del Rio, Texas. The proprietor is Laurent Delagrange, and his telephone is (210) 775-6481

 Veterans OutdoorsVeterans:
Brian "Mac" McPherson

The right place at the right time. The VO staff met Houston Astros pitcher LaTroy Hawkins by chance before a baseball game in Houston in July. Upon hearing what VO does, he promptly invited us to bring a veteran to his fishing tournament, Hawk's Big League Classic on Lake Amistad in Del Rio Texas. Hawk's Big League Classic features professional baseball players and professional bass fisherman who get together to raise money for a charity called Life Line. Before the game was over, LaTroy’s agent had sent an email to VO setting everything up.

Next up was trying to find the perfect veteran to take on the trip. We were hoping to find a veteran who not only loved to fish, but one who was a baseball fan as well. We needed to look no farther than Marine Brian "Mac" McPherson, a native of Burnet Texas. Mac was injured in Iraq when an IED hit the vehicle he was in, just days into his deployment. The blast hit him in the face and he lost most of his jaw. ...

Safari Wish ~ Cory Stone's Hunt

Safari Wish - Youth Hunt Indianhead Ranch

The hunt took place at Indianhead Ranch in Del Rio, Texas on their impressive 10,000 acres of land. Their website says “The finest fair-chase hunting experience in Texas. “ and that is very true. At the start of the two-day hunt with his .243 cal. rifle in hand we began our search for the Texas White Dall Sheep. There are two color phases of this color phase of the Corsican sheep. The most striking of these two are the pure white ones. Picture an animal, snowy, bright white of nearly 140-150 pounds standing out in the middle of a field of contrasting greens and browns and you can see why this sheep is one of the most sought after of the common exotics. After about 3 hours of chasing the sheep, Cory soon had the chance to take a shot at him. Cory impressively dropped him with one shot! Although Cory was excited I have to say my excitement trumped his. This was Cory’s first big game hunt and at 12 years old we didn’t know if it would ever happen.

I cannot express my appreciation towards the Ohio Chapter, the Indianhead Ranch, and our guide Austin for this opportunity. The ranch treated us like royalty, the guides were top notch, the food was excellent, and the beds were...well we had no problem falling asleep!  Click_here_or_on_the_Photo_to_read_the_story
