Summer Camps
During Summer, Indianhead Ranch turns into a Summer Camp for Teenagers from around the Globe, offering 2 different types of Camps, coed, over 1 or 2 weeks.
The Camp Mission is to Educate your Teenager in Wildlife Conservation by:
Expanding their Knowledge in Gun Safety and Gun Care
Learning practical Camping, Hunting and Survival Skills
Enjoying the outdoors and the Wildlife
Discovering the World of Hunting by each of them harvesting one trophy.
Becoming a Hunter by obtaining their Texas Hunter Certification (Hunting License).

These goals are achieved in a control environment, on our 10,000 acres Estate, under the supervision of Certified Professionals and with the participation of Counselors to follow each Group of Teenagers.
Each Camp has a maximum of 12 Teenagers separated within the three Ranch Guest Houses, one being solely reserved for the Girls with a Girl Counselor.
Arrival and Departure Point by Road is Indianhead Ranch and by Air: Del Rio International Airport, On Continental Airlines. Arrival is Sunday Afternoon, Departure is Saturday Morning.

CAMP TYPES:

#1 Coed Camps over 1 Week (Sunday-Saturday) Aprentice Camp:
For Teenagers between 12 – 17 years of age WITHOUT a Hunter Certification. The 7 Day Camp focuses on the Hunter Safety Certification (Hunting License) and includes a hunt for One Management Exotic Doe. For complete Camp Activities

Advance Camp:
For Teenagers between 12 and 17 years of Age WITH a Hunter Certification. The 7 Day Camp focuses mostly on Hunting and Conservation, includes a hunt for One Non-Trophy Exotic and ATV (4 Wheelers) Certification. THE NON-TROPHY can be UPGRADED to a MANAGEMENT or TROPHY EXOTIC. For Complete Camp Activities

#2 Coed Camps over 2 Weeks (Sunday-Saturday):
For Teenagers between 12 and 17 years of Age who want to stay over two weeks: in this case You will combine one week Apprentice and one week Advance Camps. Your Choices as far as Dates are July 6-19 2008 or July 27-Augist 9, 2008. The price for the two weeks including the extra night and extra day between the two weeks is $2,850.

APPRENTICE CAMP SCHEDULE

Apprentice Camp Requirement:
PRIOR TO YOUR ARRIVAL at the Indianhead Ranch Camp, Each Student MUST STUDY and Complete the Home Study Course and Quizzes from the Texas Parks & Wildlife Manual. You have two ways of doing it: via the Texas Parks & Wildlife Website (go to education/hunter education /hunter education online course) or ask us to mail you a video and the workbook.

7:30 PM - Skin, Process & Wrap 2 Deer carcasses
Day 2: 8:15 AM- Intro to Hunter Safety Certification
8:30 AM - .22 rifle shooting (1/2 Group), large shotgun shooting (1/2 Group)
10:15 AM - Groups Rotate
1:00 PM - Chapter 3: Ethic Activities, Outdoor Games
3:00 PM - Chapters: 1 & 2 of Hunter Education Manual
6:30 PM - Chapters: 4, 5, 6, & 8
Day 3: 6:00 AM - 2 Students Hunting
8:00 AM - Skill Trail (1/2 Group) / Stalking (1/2 Group)
10:00 AM - Groups Rotate
1:00 PM - Caves: Pictographs by U. S. Park Service
3:00 PM - U. S. Park Service Presentation of Ecosystem
6:30 PM - Animal Identification (2 Students Hunt)
Day 4: 6:00 AM - 2 students hunt

1:00 PM - Camp Craft, Skills & Outdoor Survival
4:00 PM - Trophy Scoring, Ageing Deer
6:00 PM - Hunting with Guides

Advance Camp Requirement:
Each Student much show proof of the Completion of a Hunter Safety Certification Course in order to participate in the Advance Camp.
This is a One Week Camp, Sunday through Saturday but it can be combined with a one week Apprentice Camp if you want to stay over two week.

9:00 AM - Tracking Wildlife/Tracking Signs
